sub-Standard Summary
During the 1850s’ through 1950s’ European countries were imperializing many African countries or regions. The people of those countries did not like it because they were being treated as slaves and were forced to do hard labor for little pay or no pay at all. Many of these people were tired of being mistreated that they wanted their independence. India is an example on how the British imperialized them and the Indians wanted change. With this being in mind many were trying to fight for independence but could not do it. So now we are asking “how the people who got imperialized respond” this will lead them to their independence from the county who imperialized them.

Answer to question
When a country or region get imperialized they should respond in a non-violent way. The people should act like this because they already got imperialized, meaning that their whole country or region is weaker compared to the country that imperialized them. When the people respond in a non-violent way as a revolt to getting imperialized the country can get independence from them without a war or any civilians dying. With the people responding in a non-violent way they can accomplish more by talking it out, and avoiding violence from breaking it. If violence were to break out imperialized people would either get hurt or die, because the country that imperialized them has more power compared to them. This is why imperialized people should act in a non-violent way as a response to getting imperialized. An example of this is when Britain imperialized Indian and they responded in a non violent way. Mahatma Gandhi was the leader of the Indians revolting against the British because they imperialized them. Gandhi was very smart and knew that the Indians could not fight against the strong British, so we then decided to revolt against the British by talking it out, non- violent way. In the Indian perspective they decided to talk with the British until they would get their independence. As time went on the Indians got their independence from Britain in a non-violent way; this was done by disobeying Britain, this would cause Britain's system to fall apart and give India their independence. When people get imperialized they should act in a non-violent way as a revolt hoping they get independence without harming the citivans, or even killing any of the people. Therefore, when people get imperialized they should act in a non-violent way.
responsibility
My responsibility was to do Sub-Standard 10.4.3 and to give detail on the African countries who got imperialized by the Europeans. I was also in charge of finding information on India when they got imperialized by the British. With this I had to look up some information on how the British got imperialized, and the way they were able to gain independence from the British. I also had to find information and context on Gandhi. Knowing this I also had to notice and compare the differences on how some countries reacted to getting imperialized. Comparing them I would know the best way the people should act when they get imperialize. Knowing all about this would help me know more on my topic, and allow me to come up with a theory; the people who got imperialized showed act in a non-violent way.
Artifact
This artifact is a simple cover book for a textbook called “India and the Contemporary World 2009” This textbook was written by many people, and the cover page was just pictures showing how Gandhi revolted against the British. The textbook was made in 2009, and I chose this artifact because it showed a great reflection on how Gandhi revolted; there is not a single image that shows the Indians acting in a violent way. Instead it shows how Gandhi is revolting in a protesting way that involves no violence. To understand the historical question it asks “what is the best way imperialized people should respond” and India shows a great way of how it’s people responded. Gandhi lead the revolution with it’s people and they managed to get independence. Therefore, the people who get imperialized should act in a non violent way.

Author's Opinion
With Europeans taking over many African countries the people from those countries felt the need to fight back and get their independence. The only thing wrong with fighting against the Europeans were that the people from Africa did not have the good resources, weapons, compared to the British. Therefore, the question would be how should imperialized people respond to imperialism? The right way the people should respond to getting imperialized is to be calm and talk it out with the country who imperialized you, act in a non-violent way. An example to this is when India got imperialized by this British and they revolted in a non-violent way. Gandhi was the leader of the protest, and he never used violence and managed to get independence. A simple picture showing a way to protest without using violence captures historical meaning by revealing that he uses non-violence. The photo of Gandhi was created by an Indian photographer who was unknown in 1932, and features Gandhi protesting against the British for imperialising them. The photo shows Gandhi not eating due to the reason that he is protesting against the British in a non-violent way. This shows that Gandhi was a good revolutionary because he acted in a nonviolent way as a protest, and India finally got their independence. In the end when a country gets imperialized by another country the people should act in a nonviolent way.
